RE: Apple updates stuff
I dropped my iPad, last week. It didn’t break, though. I also sometimes feel it may be time for a new Watch.

You'd hope it'd be. I want it to be. But it's just stuff.

I'm still vaguely contemplating one of them new 16" macbooks.

That has nothing to do with all the dumb mobile stuff they shat out yesterday though.

My work machine is one of them 16" MBPs. It's fine. Better than the 2015 model I had been using. Honestly, the 2015 was just fine except video calls... it wasn't handling that well. The 16" does just fine.

The touchbar, so far, is annoying me. It changes based on context so I can't rely on what'll be there. Play/Pause are never on it when I want them. Volume Up/Down is an extra tap. Probably just growing pains, but kind of annoying.

I have a '19 15" at work and I hate, hate, hate with the fiery passion of a butthole after Thai hot curry the keyboard.

I understand they fixed it for the 16"?

I'm still happy-ish with the 2013 15" Retina, but it seems to be showing some age - sometimes it just gets really hot, then freezes up and shuts off, and I can't figure out why.

I can't speak to either of those. But if you're referring to the ultra-flat keyboards like on the Macbooks (and maybe others) this isn't like that. Keys have more travel. It's not too unlike the plain old "Magic" Apple keyboard. Though with a bit less travel... but similarly tactile.

But now that you mention it, I do lose home key position randomly without explanation. I mean, I feel the individual keys and all... but it's new to me... perhaps it'll just take some time to get used to. I figured it was just some new age-related issue like joints or vision.

I have a 12” MacBook from… 2018? It’s fine. So is my iMac, although I am still a bit miffed that they replaced “my” model with an eight core i9 one at half the price, six months later.

I’m not replacing any of my Macs until more details on the ARM transition road map emerge, though.

My 2014 15" is still great for my home machine. If I'm ever wanting for power, which is typically when compiling over and over during development, I just remotely work from my linux monster.
A 2018 13" with Touchbar is going pretty well for work.

I'm neither here nor there on the touchbar. Having a physical escape key would be nice, and they fixed that in the newer ones. The keyboard on the 13" could be better, but I've kind of forgotten how it is since I bought myself a hipster clicky keyboard as I'm mostly tethered to my desk anyway - I'm addicted to my 34" ultrawide. :tear:

I think I won't be getting a new Mac until they go Apple Silicon.
