RE: Have YOU installed Catalina yet?
I’m waiting for you to send me a Mac that will run Catalina. My 1,1 is not up to the task.

I might do it tonight, if I happen to open my MacBook and it asks me to.

RE: Have YOU installed Catalina yet?
I did.

My MBP with an iffy battery seems to be doing OK with it. I can't let the battery get < 85%, because then it'll spontaneously freeze or just shut off (new battery is on its way).

This was not the iOS/MacOS hybrid extravaganza-type event that Potardo promised me. I am DISAPPOINTED.

I replaced the battery in an old 2011 MBP. It didn't like it and never would charge.

In that case, I'm out $100, and whatever time it takes for me to get it installed.

I actually heard the same story out of another guy (2011 MBP battery replacement) that makes me think it might just be that model.  iFixit's guide seems straight-forward enough on the 2013 unit that I probably won't get lost.

Did you try jiggling the cord?

RE: Have YOU installed Catalina yet?
MacBook Air (mid-2012): Yes. This is just an emailing, web-surfing, occasional work machine.

iMac 4K Retina (mid-2017): Not yet. I've been culling most of my 32-bit apps, but there are still some I'm not yet ready to lose. Worst case scenario: SSDs (and USB enclosures) are cheap enough that I could theoretically install Mojave on an external SSD to run some of my older stuff.
There is no dark side of the moon, really…matter of fact, it's all dark.
