Mojave is here!
And it drops support for my Mac Mini (server), my Dad's hand-me-down MacBook Air 2010, and my niece's hand-me-down MacBook Air 2011. Oh well. I was planning on virtualising all my home serving needs, anyway, and the MBA's can run another year or two before being retired. That pretty much eliminates the big question I had: will APFS start supporting AppleRAID any time soon?

Welcome to the club. My Mac Pro 1,1 has been orphaned for years.

I installed Mojave yesterday on my 15" pro. Dark mode is surprisingly nice.
A massage doesn't always have to lead to sex, but if it doesn't then you're doing it wrong.

I'm gonna have to buy an iMac Pro instead of the planned plane-jane iMac, because Dark Mode looks awesome but it'll be out of place on a silvery Mac. Good thing I bought a Space Grey MacBook, tho!

You could just get Masking tape and a can of metallic spray paint if that bothers you so much...
My logic is infallible. Resistance is futile.

I will say the new version of the Watch OS is killing me. Its just an utter failure. I don't get half of my notifications. When I do dismissing them is near impossible. I have no idea where an incoming message from my wife will show up. Or if any notification will actually stay up so that I can read it and know what app it came from.

It is a 100% false sense of security that I'll know what I'm relying on it to tell me.

We might find out how easy/hard it is to break a Series 3 watch here soon.

Heh, that makes me suspect that Apple's so-called renewed focus on quality code is reactive and not proactive. So instead of having refined coding procedures to prevent and resolve bugs in the future they are just bug squashing key projects and will soon lose interest in doing so.

Mark my words, the next iterations of macOS and iOS will have more and more bugs until people start complaining loudly again.

Nah, they’ll cycle around and fix me up. It’s a typical problem in larger orgs with smaller autonomous teams. There are varying levels of excellence throughout that effect quality in different ways. My current company, though smaller, has a lot of the same challenges. It gets noticed and lagging areas get changes to fix problems.

RE: Mojave is here!
I installed it last night. Dark mode so far is just different. I didn't immediately think, "yeah, that's the stuff." But I haven't switched back either.

I think I need to backpedal a bit. Mail is a little jarring. Particularly HTML email that with the common white background.

I like dark mode so far. I don't use mail, but everything I do like to use so far is nice that the content area is starkly different than the UI and makes focusing on the content that much easier.

I'm digging it so far.

xCode doesn't support dark mode.

It looks Apple's designers have filled the trash can with recyclables.

I don't know what is worse.

Either Apple is now indirectly condoning environmentally-UNfriendly practices

Or that's a "Recycling Bin"

We have three bins for waste collection in my city: the green "organics" bin, for things like compostables, tissues, and the like; the grey "landfill" waste, for anything that's not recyclable; and the blue "recyclables" bin, for anything recyclable. As a result, most rooms in my house (like the kitchen, the bathrooms, and the bedrooms) all have three "garbage" cans. The Trash icon and its contents look very much like my "blue" cans in my home.

Just sayin'.
