AirPods
Pretty cool.

Has the same issues as the Bose. Bluetooth is such garbage as it has to yield bandwidth to wifi. But if I put my phone in my back pocket instead of my front it magically works better. I guess my remaining chemo'd up teste might now be a wireless signal sponge of some kind.

But they're comfy, they sound good. And best of all they fit better than their wired counterparts.

And no wires.

I'll mark on my calendar to check back if you have lost them or not.

You do that.

In this hive of scum and hipsters that is SF I've not known anyone yet to lose one. And I'm the last of everybody I work with to get a pair.

RE: AirPods
I consider it to be an inevitability for independent earbuds that size, no matter the brand.

Granted Apple put a lot of work into making sure the Airpods don't dislodge or get lost, so if the concept of independent buds is viable they will be the one to prove that.

RE: AirPods
Because I know you're all eager for a 6mo update: I'm convinced that these AirPods are all around the best sound making bud-like devices that I've ever stuffed in my ears. Bluetooth issues aside, of course, because every set of bluetooth headphones that i've tried has the same issue.

They're as comfortable as anything. They really do produce good sound. They stay in while running. I don't do marathon sessions of headphone use as my ears have never been able to take it. A few hours and I've had enough of any type of head/ear phone.

And a great added bonus: the case fits perfectly in the watch pocket in my Levi's.

For wireless, in-ear, conveniently portable sound I've tried:
- Beats
- Spiegen
- Apple

Wireless, but larger can style:
- Bose

The only other one's I'm interested in hearing are the Beoplay 8's because my EM raves about them.

But for now I'm happy and really impressed with the overall range and quality of the AirPods.

I'm surprised you haven't lost them yet. I'll check back in October.

RE: AirPods
Still haven’t lost my AirPods.
I bought Sony some WH1000XM3 headphones after we were moved in to a noisier area at work. They’re quite nice. NC is on par with the Bose but the EQ in the Sony’s push them over the top.

RE: AirPods
I just ordered a set of (red) Shure SE535’s. I use the wired SE215’s, now, but I figured I should get with the times and go wireless.

Sadly, this probably means my trusty iPod will see barely any use, anymore. Remains to be seen whether I like using my phone for an iPod. At least, it’s one thing fewer to carry.

RE: AirPods
Update: they're awesome! Still getting to grips with using the iPhone rather than the trusty iPod, but the sound quality is simply amazing.

Mind you, I used to think the Sony EX70SL's sounded good, at least for what I paid for them. They were comfortable, too. At the time, I was reluctant to spend more on earphones, because our cats would invariably chew through the cords in no short order, rendering them useless. Then Sony stopped making them, and I switched to the JVC HA-FX35 Marshmallows, which sounded like shit compared to the Sonys. I also had to wear them L-R reversed because I like to wear the cable over the ear and, unlike the symmetrical Sonys, the Marshmallows were shaped differently for the left and right ear.

So I switched to the Shure SE215's. I thought them very expensive, compared to what I was used to spending on earbuds (hundreds, rather than tens of Euros), but the detachable cable convinced me in that department, while the over-the-ear design appeals to me and they got good reviews for "budget" (HAH!) earbuds. These sound way better than the cheaper buds I used before, so I knew I couldn't go wrong with the SE535's, since everything I'd read about them, suggested they would sound even better.

They were not lying. I use them with the triple-flange ear plugs, and one advantage over my previous earbuds is that I can use them at a much lower volume and still be immersed in my music, it just sounds that good.

Sorry (not sorry) I hijacked your thread, Gip. Back to discussing your hipster ear-sticks.

Speaking of... Samsung announced new wireless earbuds. I think they're called "AirPods." They come in a charging case with a flip lid that works with your phone.
