My ass is still the shape of the seat. Despite it being a BMW that seat isn't the greatest for long hauls.

My route from today. Start and end point is actually 2 miles from my house, but I'm not posting that on here for you jerks.

After a few packed months, I'm back working on the gates.

The pilasters are in (I ended up bolting some 1/2" plate down using 4 1/4" x 1/2" redhead concrete anchors as the bases of the pilasters instead of sinking them down into the concrete), the gates are hung, I'm working on mounting sections of the perforated metal slowly (the rest of it's held up by C clamp to prevent the idiot dog from escaping).

After finishing my gates, I decided to sell the house. Put an offer on another house this morning.

Making my house legal after the fact makes me wish I had just done it right the first time. Ugh.

New house, new furniture.

RE: Attention whore thread
Way back in January of 1999, my dad bought a Harman Kardon CD changer. Only a few weeks into ownership, it wasn't working properly, and since the retailer where he bought it basically told him to go pound sand because he didn't buy an extended warranty, he had to take it to a repair shop one town over. Two separate drop-offs and almost six months of it being in the shop later, he got it back, still not working. Rather than giving it any more time, he boxed it up in the basement and bought a Denon to replace it (side note: when something went wrong with the Denon, Dad took it back to the stereo shop and they replaced it on the spot). He bought the H/K since everyone told him it was the best, and instead he got an $800 paperweight.

Back around 2008, when we had to replace our upstairs TV (tube went kablooey), Dad found the new flat panel's speakers didn't have enough oomph to reach the kitchen. I advised him to get a reasonably-priced home-theatre-in-a-box, but not one of those shitty ones with no inputs and built-in CD/DVD stuff, so he ended up getting an Onkyo HT-S6100, which came with a real receiver. He had remembered the old H/K CD changer in the basement and I hooked it back up for him, of course, forgetting what a pain in the ass it had been.

Fast forward to this Christmas, and Mom wanted to put on some CDs for background. The damn thing kept skipping like crazy, so I just had her copy her CDs to be done with it; she could stream them to the Apple TV in the family room upstairs, the AirPort Express in the basement, or the AirPlay speaker in the living room. However, this bloody thing still had me pissed off, so when I found a service manual online when looking for manuals for all our goods, I was pleased to see it made mention of the skipping issue. Turns out if the screws on the back holding the top panel in place are torqued too tightly, they'll pull the back panel out of alignment, and since the player mechanism is secured to the back panel, you'll get skipping. Took it all apart this afternoon, put in a CD, and it's played perfectly since. New life for all of Dad's 200+ CDs in the basement.
There is no dark side of the moon, really…matter of fact, it's all dark.

Thanks.

It's a load of pre-finished hardwood, installed by an amateur, and a source of mild irritation for me.  I expect I'll have to sand it and fill the gaps with putty within a few years.

Started on picture rails for my mother. She's been after these things ever since she saw them at her sister's house, so I'm butchering some of my 20 b.f. of hickory for her.

This is just the rough cut, obviously I've got some plane work, some chiseling, some sanding, and some routing. The theory of operation is that you attach these things to the wall from the narrow side, and you stand pictures up behind the lip. She (my mother) claims that their maid service knocks the pictures all askew, and this is the solution to that.

I'll be cutting a 5/8" dado into the narrow part to fit some of these in, and attach them where the mounting screws go into the studs in the wall. I'll also be rounding over the corners on the outside with some 1/8" roundover bits in my router.

Stepped off my bike this morning and caught my foot in the chain ring. I just applied super glue, and am a hot mess.
