RE: Attention whore thread
I've had a thing for chrome bikes ever since I was but a wee lad and I drooled over the top-of-the-line Full Pro Aero in the 1985 Koga catalogue:

One day… of course, preciously few of those were ever sold. The ƒ4995,- list price, which is the equivalent of about $10,000 in today's money, probably didn't help. I only ever saw two being offered in the second-hand market, and they both went for four-figure amounts.

Seems to me the only real difference between yours and the aero model is the graphics package (and the fact that yours has much better components now). Surely you could pick up some Koga Miyata stickers on ebay for a song.

I love the look of that shiny bike of yours. Very nice! I'd ride it with a sense of smug satisfaction were it mine.

I also like it because it has no decals. That's a huge plus. I don't care if the plebs know what I'm riding.

I've got a head badge ready to be mounted, and there's a small frame sticker coming. That'll hopefully avoid having to answer the same question over and over again. But there'll be no big name stickers on the tubes, unless Koga or Miyata start paying me.

RE: Attention whore thread
I 3D printed a thing.

Once upon a time, I was young and stupid (as opposed to now when I'm not so young anymore), so I cut the mounting ears off of the clock I had in the dash of my 300ZX to reuse on the boost controller I was mounting in its place. The clock still kinda worked, but I had a clock on my radio, so who really needs the additional information, right?

Well, now that time has passed and everyone's had a chance to mourn, I decided to remove the boost controller, as I'm swapping the ECU for the car with one that does boost control internally. That left a big fuckin' hole.

So, I decided to put something in it. Since everything 3D printed is a dildo, I made a dash dildo, to hold my iPod.

Inside my filthy car (sorry, I haven't really used it in a few weeks, so I also haven't cleaned it):

The radio's got a classic dock connector, so I built the dildo to accept the dock to lightning adapter.

I'm still going to fill the front, and then sand everything and coat it in trim black, but I'm quite happy with my progress so far.

Looks good.
Just slap some faux carbon fiber on the front and all it done ;)

How did you build your model for printing?

I used openSCAD, which caters to my predilections as a crusty-ass C programmer.

I have no idea why it didn't work, it's just a straight copy-paste from my source file.  I didn't sign in or anything.

Make sure you use nested macros.  Those are the best for maintainability.

You should probably let that kid go. If he really has no idea why anything Oracle is a very bad idea then he cannot be trusted as a programmer.

Yeah, and I probably should have milled my iPod dock from a solid block of metal, because 3D printing is such a loser proposition.

iPods are not exactly scratch proof. I highly doubt you want to be constantly pushing your iPod into something that's going to scratch it to bits.

On the other hand, if you don't keep it clean then dirt and grime will get in there and your iPod will get scratched anyways.

But you should at least sand and buff the visible surfaces, that ribbing makes it look janky.

I've seen lots of pastebin entries where someone uses it ask for help but they leave in DB and API creds.

You should use scala instead of java and then fight Jackson for 10 hours because, shit, who doesn't want a massive library to slow down your app while parsing plain text?

RE: Attention whore thread
Brain transplant successful, with a caveat.

Made a jumper harness that allowed me to run the AEM with the existing harness without modification. It includes provisions for the MAP sensor, the IAT sensor, and the ethanol content sensor.

Brain and the only out-and-out replacement sensor, as the AEM takes a 12-slot crank angle sensor wheel, instead of the Nissan 360+1 slot wheel.

Jumper harness and ECU in the stock location.

Here's where the jumper harness terminates. I added a grommet over the transmission for the new sensors, and terminated them to matching 4-cavity plugs.

IAT
[Image: 2017-08-24.jpg]

Boost solenoid and ethanol content sensor
[Image: 2017-08-24+_5_.jpg]

Now for the caveat. I took the whole thing to my tuner, basically giving him a turn-key system, he only had to put the jumper harness in, swap the ECUs out, and replace the CAS, but I guess he was busy, so he forgot to set the initial timing, and had it idling at about 40°BTDC, so 1) it ran like shit, and 2) basically all the work he did on the dyno was for nothing, so the results here are tentative, at best.

It bugged the shit out of me, how it was running, so being the pedantic blowhard I am, I checked the timing with my light, and figured it out, but the timing maps need another look on the dyno, and I won't have time to get it there until the end of the month.
