The entire discourse is about society and the nations in which we kive.  How does it not?
Oh, come on! That's more than a stretch.

It's the wikipedia definition of fascism.  I thought you'd want to know that you're advocating text book fascism.

Really? You can loosely correlate 1 or 2 of my ideas/arguments and thus that wide brush paints over everything. Got it.

If the truth hurts, say ouch.

Ouch wasn't really the word that came to mind, there.

No, it isn't.  And even if it were: if "nationalism" is the only difference between you and a fascist, then maybe you have bigger concerns than your patriotism.

Whatever happened to "I disagree with what you said but I'll fight to the death to defend your right to say it" ?
My logic is infallible. Resistance is futile.

You say that as if there were ever a time when that was universally subscribed to. But that was not your point, was it?

I quite agree, even if I would never classify a lack of patriotism as a "concern". But my point is, if you have to violently rape one textbook definition to make Gip's beliefs fit another, your argument rather loses its strength. There are more evils in the world than fascism, you know. I'm sure you could find a better-fitting one.

The comment was made in the context of the violent antifa movement being the same as a fascist movement. I don't see how it's a stretch.

a form of
√ radical
√ authoritarian
~ nationalism,
√ characterized by dictatorial power and
√ forcible suppression of opposition

Again, if nationalism is what makes my argument a stretch, then I think you've mischaracterized the problem.

RE: Why do people get upset when fratboys with tiki torches assemble?
Let's agree to disagree. But I do maintain that you might consider a different strategy than, "they're the same, really!" There sure are similarities, but also key differences. I would contest "authoritarianism," too. There are also other hallmarks of fascism —militarism, to name but one— that are missing from (specifically these) radical left ideologies.

Mind you, that does not absolve them from being dead wrong on other issues, but it makes the attempt at leveraging equivalency as an argument(!) rather futile, to my eyes.

I'm happy to disagree. I don't expect to convince anyone that punching people because they said something offensive is wrong.

We've spent a lot of blood and treasure as a nation forcing Nazis to stop Nazi-ing just to allow it to spring up again in our back yard, emboldened by a Cheeto puppet and his Breitbart gang of fools.

We've spent blood and treasure to stop people from acting like Nazi's and blood and treasure to ensure they can speak like Nazi's.
