Can you honestly not understand the backlash and protests against people like #45 and Milo? Because that response sounds very disingenuous. I really do find that response hard to believe.

That's a nice right wing comic you've got there. Did you chose to ignore the one that proposed locking up opponents in camps? I'm sure you must have. Because you'd never align with a Nazi. No. You'd never do that.

Then what messages are they? To me they're clear as day showing that the left's extremist insanity is spooking the right into action, but the left don't realize their actions are what's causing this in the first place.

Here's the thing: To pretty much everyone that's trying to stay neutral and informed, they are seeing all sorts of signs of everyday people being outright vicious against everything Trump, even the reasonable bits. And these same people are seeing attempts mark them as inferior and horrible simply due to their white skin and lifestyle - and they don't like that one bit. "You are going to call me a Nazi just because I don't agree with you? Fine, I'll show you what a Nazi is."

The Third Reich was a long time ago. Many people were not around then, and many more don't have a connection to what happened. You can't just treat it as a mythical bogeyman and excuse your actions by saying you're attacking it. That logic is how the crusades were condoned.

All this left vs right is bullshit. All it does is give everyone partylines to follow instead of using actual reason.

RE: *cough*
Your mind is a mess. The basket of deplorable backlash was but a part of why Trump was elected. The racism and fascism was brought to the surface not by the left, but by the right. The populist America First has been a racist cry for many decades. It goes back to the early 1900s. Trump and others on the right have been blowing their dog whistles louder in recent years. The Muslim is the new Jew. An outside threat that is a distraction from the real threat rising on the inside. You think this is about one election. it's been brewing for a while.

Your insistence that those comics are poignant shows your ignorance. Suggesting that the Nazi is ok to lock up objectors because they stand against his fascist ideals is worrisome. That you insist that calling people out on their naziesque ideals is what forces people to vote a certain way only shows how the right has switched places with the left in its need for a safe place.

It used to be that killing Nazis was as American as you could get. Now people are offended if you call them that. But they don't seem offended about actually having fascist and racist tendencies. They're offended that they can no longer express them. That it is now taboo to hate blacks, gays, etc... they want to discriminate under the guise of religious freedom. The good old days they want back involve subjection of other human beings.

This is what needs fighting. And I won't be ashamed to call people out on it. And I frankly have no fucks to give if you think that my calling someone who wants to oppress someone else a Nazi. Nazi, fascist, asshole. I'll call them any that they prefer. But I will not let them skate on those ideals and call me oppressive for not letting them spread hate.

We all deserve to be happy. We have but a short time around this rock. If it's your belief that those who would deprive others of happiness should be protected then I'm afraid you'll find yourself on the wrong side of history.

Also, I think the massacre you mean is the Bowling Green massacre.  But what do I know? I just pick up sound bytes and don't listen to the real issues.

Except it never did. Are you serving up alternative facts, now, too? Please don't.

Also, Godwin's Law is not some sort of moratorium to calling out fascism where appropriate. Feel free to provide counter-arguments where you see fit, but don't accuse people of trying to curb free speech, only to turn around and expect people to shut up at the mere mention of Godwin's Law.

The way I see it, Godwin's Law has evolved from a mildly amusing observation into a curse: it is (too) often invoked as a spell to silence opposing viewpoints.

Not exactly. Per Alien's link:

" Quirk's Exception: Intentional invocation of Godwin's Law is ineffectual."

Nazis were never brought up as a metaphor. It has for the last while been used as an Ad Hominem label to de legitimize the Right's arguments, then subsequently adopted by those on the right who only remember Hitler as a vague bogeyman who purified Germany into the no-bullshit country it is today.

RE: *cough*
And just so that I'm clear. I am unabashedly lumping in those that turn a blind eye to the extreme right and enable it by voting it in to office or telling the nation to "ignore the words, look in the heart". History looks back unfavorably on those that said nothing during the Nazi rise to prominence. Ignorance/apathy plays as bit a part in the rise of oppressors as the oppressor's efforts do.

Germany.
Korea.
Africa.
Russia.

Its not just Nazis. Its the enablement of human oppression. Nazi is an easy, but apt, label that can be applied due to the presence and influence of the "alt-right" on the current administration.

Seriously. What's your fucking excuse here. Because all I see is you whining that people were butt-hurt about being called names. Instead of saying "no, I'm not a racist and I won't support the obvious racist", they doubled down on the racist. That tells me that they're not offended by being called a racist, but by being outed as having some level or racism or a huge apathy towards the denigration of other humans. I don't care about their feelings.
