What the fuck is up with that?

Because mice are awesome? Even if I had the world's largest touchpad with all sorts of whizbang gestures I'd still prefer a mouse.

Yes, I'm sure those morons I see trying to mouse around on their lap in an airport lounge are doing that because they think mice are awesome.

it's better than navigation an ipad with a keyboard cover.

Besides, the Lenovo Trackpoint is far superior to a touchpad, and is less wasted space.

WELL AT LEAST IT'S BETTER THAN A BUNCH OF DONGLE.S
Well, I guess it is because this dock issue will be fixed by way of a BIOS update, while the whole dongle mess will never, ever be remedied because USB A CONNECTORS FOREVERZ LULZ AMIRITE

Oh, wait, no... these docks have been misbehaving right out the factory door for months and no amount of software updating has fixed them, yet. Hey, why isn't the tech press writing clickbait articles about the decline of HP QC every fucking day of the week? I guess nobody gives a shit about misbehaving Windows crap, that's why.

HOW WILL I EVER HOOK UP MY CLASSIC IPOD DOCK TO MY NEW LAPTOP, OMGWTFBBQ

Soooooo, apparently it is possible to physically break the USB-C/TB3 ports on this POS by (dis)connecting the docking station in hibernation mode. How wonderful.

Until your desktop decides to randomly reorganize itself and you can't find anything. You'd wish you had thumbdrives.

Getting the same POS model because HP is balls deep into this company's bunghole.

They're good at that, as it's the same thing at this company.

That's a step up for you.  Now you can get a new one whenever you want.

I had to knock the 10-years-out-of-date machine off my counter 3 times for the cunning stunts at HP to actually give me a new one.

RE: Nope. No headphone jack.
Wow. I've got it easy. I can just walk down to IT and say "I don't like this one any more" and they'll give me a new one. The only drawback is that I now need to see if I can still hack around the stupid security crap they put on it to limit its processing power by scanning the hard drive every time a letter is typed.

Fun story: I actually got lectured by IT and security by telling them they were ravaging our machines. I made the mistake of telling them how I circumvented their software to prove my point. I actually showed them 3 security holes in the process ;)

I don't want a new one, I want something decent. But I'll bear this trick in mind when I see them start distributing a different model.

Took me a week to get this one set up right, too. Of course, the promise is that they'll clone it to a new machine and everything will be hunky-dory, but I'm sure there'll be some obscure Windows shit that fucks things up and makes a couple of vital apps barf up their lunch.

Dude, between all that and only having one ball to scratch when it's hot and humid, your life is just one long day at a nude beach without typical nudists.

BTW, the thing has got HP's state of the art park-the-drive-heads-in-case-of-a-fall software installed as standard. On an SSD machine with no drive bays.

I know, right? But it's that going the extra mile that makes Windows such a delight to use.

Got a new one, this morning. Of course, Windows being the unfathomable mess it is, some of my settings were transferred automatically once I logged on, while others were lost forever. This is so awesome.
