New forum software or just upgrade?
So, this version of MyBB is getting crusty. I should upgrade us to the latest version. That'll mean a small amount of downtime, but not much. Not enough to effect our MASS AMOUNTS OF INTERNETS BREAKAGE TRAFFIK.

But this begs a question: should we try out a different forum software. So far I've seen:

- MyBB: meh
- PHPbb: meh (with security vulnerabilities)
- PunBB: med

I kinda like the thought of Vanilla Forums.

Should we? If so, what should we?

There are a few idiosyncrasies of this forum that have annoyed me from the beginning but as you weren't keen to address them and I was getting what I paid for I let it drop.

Vanilla appears to have gotten better. And I think it's responsive out of the box so no need to have a dedicated mobile theme.

I want an option to switch off mobile themes and have them stay off. Otherwise: whatever.

I don't care if anything changes to be honest. I just want to see Gippy do some unnecessary work.

if you're not going to switch it to an async i/o mongo-backed node-powered isometric javascript mvc single page app, why bother?

Because of loading times. Weren't you even paying attention to the part where we discussed our hate and the need for a mobile version?
