If there’s any installed apps named “情涩播放器”, “快播私密版” or “快播0”, delete them;

Oh yeah, this is totally a thing that matters outside of China.

If you read it closer, you may realize that is only an example of the names. Sometimes they're called "Phone" "Messages" etc.

Try harder, dumbass:

Apple, in a statement to The Loop, Wrote:This issue only impacts users on older versions of iOS who have also downloaded malware from untrusted sources. We addressed this specific issue in iOS 8.4 and we have also blocked the identified apps that distribute this malware. We encourage customers to stay current with the latest version of iOS for the latest security updates. We also encourage them to only download from trusted sources like the App Store and pay attention to any warnings as they download apps.

In other news, I found a Blackberry (the label inside says it's a Q10 model) near the park while walking Molly today. Since it was near death, I brought it home and hooked it up to a charger, then called Telus, the provider, to see if they could contact its rightful owner to get it back to them. So far, no call. I interpret this as the owner not giving a shit as to losing a Blackberry.

Giggle

It's curious to me that RIM has decided to go head to head with Samsung. I never thought of them as a hardware company, and I don't think their keyboard is that relevant anymore.

UPDATE:

The owner of the Blackberry has deactivated his/her SIM card (maybe through buying a new phone or SIM), and the carrier can no longer track down the owner of the phone. I'm putting up flyers around the neighbourhood to try and get the phone back to its owner, as I sure as hell don't need a Blackberry (and my mother, who uses the same carrier to which the Blackberry is locked, doesn't want a Blackberry), but my hopes are low.

Wipe it then post on Kijiji. Someone will want it, but they may lowball you.

I switched to a Blu Win HD LTE. I'm happy with it and I don't give a shit about Blackberry anymore.

Why the hell would he try to sell something that isn't his? That's a great way to get picked up for theft.

Well if he can't find the original owner then it's that or throw it in the garbage, and the former nets him at least a hundred bucks and allows someone to get a half decent phone at a price they can afford.

Wow. First Blackberry, now Windows Phone. You sure know how to pick a winner.

Flyers go up in the neighbourhood tomorrow. Lost and found ad on Kijiji today. May also see if I can get the SIM card to show me the number associated with it by putting it in my mother's phone, then calling it to see if the owner is still using that number on his/her new phone. Not selling it. Gippy's right on the button: I'm no lawyer, or anything to do with law enforcement, but selling something I found on the street sounds pretty much akin to theft to me. If I don't find the original owner, I may look into donating it to a women's shelter.

RE: *cough*
Well, hold on. Yes, it's a pattern thieves use, but you haven't stolen anything. It's OK to sell things that you find.

If you go down the road where all found items are stolen, then you can't donate a stolen phone, that would be shitty.

Of course, it's not stolen, so you can sell it or donate it as you wish. Unless you have some Canadian law up there about finders stealers.

Better give them free Apple Music subscriptions to make up for it.

Funny, I thought I posted a reply in here…

Old news. My aunt, who is probably the least computer savvy person I know, got this sort of thing on her Mac mini about a month or so ago. Without having to call me to confirm it was a fake, she knew it was complete bull and just quit out of Safari (or shut down her Mac, or powered it off, or something…she didn't give specifics). Common sense, while not that common nowadays, goes a long way.
